Fall is a great time to plan for 2015 and I’m doing a lot of planning to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals. A good plan starts with a vision of what you want. What do YOU want? Is it clear? Many folks struggle with this question – they are unsure. But, they are CERTAIN about what they DON’T WANT. Funny, eh?

Goal setting is exciting, but it can also be stressful and trigger all sorts of fears. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of claiming what you want and daring to make it a reality. The little voice in your head says, “but it’s not the right time to pursue that dream.” And, “what if I fail?” I’ve been there. Many times.

But here’s the truth, there is no right time. We only have NOW and the decisions and actions you take NOW impact the rest of your life. So why settle? Why not live and work with joy and abundance? Create an Abundance Plan and get on with delivering your greatness!

Abundance planning starts with your focus. What do you focus on? Do you focus on the good or criticize all the spots that don’t quite measure up? As Tony Robbins says, “where your focus goes, energy flows.” Energy doesn’t care what you focus on. But if you’re not intentional with your energy, it can sabotage even the most beautifully designed strategy.

I’ve used abundance planning since I was a kid to get all kinds of things from a bicycle and a dog to my first job. I’ve used it to build successful firms, to create our equestrian estate, and to live by my own design. I’ve also sabotaged my Abundance Plan by allowing fears and limiting beliefs to block the flow of good and take me down a path of distraction and lack. It was painful and happened several times. But the good news is that it was temporary; once I shifted my beliefs and redirected my focus, I was back on track.

To build your Abundance Plan, get clear about what you DO want, train your mind to stay focused on this vision, and develop a series of baby steps to make it a reality. Here are three key questions to help you stay on track:

  1. What is good NOW?
  2. What do I want more of?
  3. What am I tolerating?

Answers to these questions will help show you what you want to grow and what is getting in the way.

My own Abundance Plan includes objectives for excellent health, joy, deep heart-felt connections, abundant financial wealth, intellectual stimulation, and independence. I developed specific actions in alignment with each that require daily intention, attention, decisiveness, and boundaries. It’s been pretty fun to implement and I’m excited for 2015.
